EAA Chairman and President Tom Poberezny announced longtime pilot and EAA member Rod Hightower  as the incoming president of the association.

Rod Hightower, a business manager and Stearman owner, will become the Experimental Aviation Association’s third president since the organization was formed in 1953.

Beginning June 30, 2010, controllers will be required to issue explicit instructions to cross or hold short of each runway that intersects a taxi route.

WINDSOR, Ontario - Austria's Hannes Arch won his third straight race in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship with a stirring performance in Windsor on Sunday, bouncing back with an emphatic victory in Canada just two days after suffering one of the worst pylon hits of his career. Britain's Paul Bonhomme took a close second in the difficult track that straddles the Canada-U.S. border over the Detroit River, his 11th straight podium, while American Kirby Chambliss made the top 3 for the first time this year with third place. Canada’s Pete McLeod was a disappointing ninth in front of his home crowd.

Korea Aerospace Industries is in the initial stages of certifying its 315hp KC-100 single engine airplane.  Deliveries to North America are anticipated in 2013.  The four-seat aircraft has an all-composite fuselage, an all-glass cockpit, autopilot and a mid-air collision avoidance system.

Congressman Henry Cuellar, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Border, Maritime and Global Counterterrorism, today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved a Certification of Authorization (COA) for an unmanned aerial vehicle to patrol a portion of the U.S. Mexico border extending from Arizona to the El Paso region of Texas effective Tuesday, June 1, 2010. This is one of two COAs that have been submitted to FAA to approve the flights of unmanned aerial vehicles along the Texas-Mexico border.

RIO DE JANEIRO - Hannes Arch of Austria was declared the winner of the Red Bull Air Race in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday when adverse weather conditions made it impossible to continue the racing during the Top 12 round and the results were then based on the previous day's Qualifying session. Britain’s Nigel Lamb was awarded second place based on coming second in Qualifying while championship leader Paul Bonhomme was forced to settle with a disappointing third place in the third race of the 2010 season.
