ATP places Diamond-JET Fleet Order

Airline Transport Professionals (ATP) has purchased 20 Diamond D-JETs and 5 Diamond Flight Training Devices (FTDs). The aircraft and FTDs will be utilized in ATP's Airline Career Pilot Program, and to ensure nation-wide availability of training to new D-JET owners.

Van Bortel Aircraft, Inc. from Arlington, USA will be responsible for replacing the conventional engines. Van Bortel will then sell the diesel Cessnas worldwide. As the world's largest Cessna reseller, Van Bortel will be supported in its activities by Cessna Aircraft Company (Wichita, USA). Van Bortel is currently presenting its new product at the AOPA Convention in Palm Springs, USA. The cooperation will give general aviation pilots a further opportunity to purchase a brand-new aircraft with state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient and easy-to-operate diesel engine technology. Thielert has been offering retrofit kits for older Cessna 172 for the past three years.

FAA Sport Pilot Knowledge Test

The sport pilot knowledge written test has been modified by the FAA to make questions more applicable to airplane type.  Powered parachute applicants will no longer have to answer airplane type questions.

Avidyne Primary Flight Displays installed in Cirrus, Columbia and Piper airplanes are subject to a FAA Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin advising of modifications available to eliminate the possibility that the system will display misleading attitude and heading information.

FAA WARNS STC HOLDERS AGAINST ETHANOL IN AUTO FUEL

The FAA has issued a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB), warning aircraft owners and operators with auto fuel supplemental type certificates to ensure the fuel they use does not contain alcohol (ethanol or methanol). The SAIB reinforces EAA’s ongoing efforts to ensure availability of compliant autogas by heading off or modifying legislative attempts in several states to require ethanol in all gasolines sold.
