Eclipse 500 Earns Full FAA Type Certification

Eclipse Aviation, manufacturer of the world’s first very light jet (VLJ), received the full Type Certification for the Eclipse 500 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Type Certificate was presented to Eclipse at its company headquarters in Albuquerque, New Mexico during a customer celebration that is being held this weekend.

New York Yankee Pitcher Killed in Manhattan Plane Crash
Thursday, 12 October 2006
A single-engine Cirrus SR-20 plane  piloted by Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle smashed into a 42-story building on the Upper East Side yesterday, killing Mr. Lidle and his flight instructor. Weather at the time was low overcast with limited flight visibility.  The National Transport Safety Board officials were on site by did not speculate on the cause of the crash.

FAA Hiring of Nearly 12,000 New Controllers

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) today released an updated Air Traffic Controller Workforce Plan designed to address anticipated retirement and replacement of air traffic controllers over the coming decade. The revised document outlines the agency’s plans to hire more than 11,800 new air traffic controllers over the next 10 years.

Cessna Citation Mustang Wins Full FAA Certification

Cessna Aircraft Company reported today the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted type certification (TC) to Cessna’s Citation Mustang, making it the world’s first fully certified, new-generation entry level business jet. “This is an immense achievement, marking another point in history where Cessna has led the aviation industry into new territory,” said Cessna Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Jack Pelton.
