Surprise Landing Fees – Montreal

It will now cost you a minimum of $46.68 (plus Tax) to land at Montreal’s Trudeau and Mirabel Airports. There has been no landing fee for small aircrafts at Trudeau and Mirabel (15nm north of CYUL) so the first batch of invoices to local pilots and flying schools came as a big surprise.  Unfortunately, no one is the general aviation sector had been consulted.

Sonex Aircraft, LLC recently announced the long-awaited release of AeroConversions AeroVee 2.0 2180cc 80hp engine kit. AeroVee 2.0 is now the standard AeroVee engine kit, completely replacing the AeroVee 2002, with four upgraded features: 20 Amp Alternator; Improved Secondary Ignition System; Upgraded AeroCarb for push or pull actuation; new Machined Oil Breather Plate.

Prestige Aircraft - Light Sport Aircraft

Three aircraft types – one already certified and two to go.  That’s what’s happening at Jackson, Michigan’s Prestige Aircraft.  Prestige started by importing the Rally light sport aircraft but realized it would be easier and more cost efficient just to build them in Michigan.  The tree aircraft types are the Rally LSA, Century LSA and the SeaStorm LSA.  The Rally LSA aircraft has passed SLSA certification and gained its airworthiness certificate from the FAA.  Certification for the Century LSA is just weeks away from LAMA and FAA certification.

Expedition Aircraft

Expedition Aircraft, a new Canadian aircraft manufacturer, has announced that 90 percent of the work required to obtain certification for both its multi mission aircraft the E350 and E350XC has been completed.  With initial design specifications released it looks like this rugged aircraft will be a hit with both seaplane and backcountry pilots.

General Aviation Shipments Up 12.9% in 2006

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) announced that general aviation shipments had increased by 12.9% over that of 2005.  A total of 4,042 aircraft were produced and delivered in 2006.
