Transport Canada has issued Type Certificate A-247 for Diamond's DA42 Twin Star.

Diamond D-42 Airplane, airplane, learn to fly

"The DA42 is a phenomenal success, with Twin Stars operating in Europe, the USA, South-East Asia, South Africa and China. We are pleased to add Canada to the list of countries who have certified this innovative and versatile aircraft," said Peter Maurer, President of Diamond Aircraft Industries Canada. "This is especially welcome, since there are many Canadian customers who have been waiting to take delivery of their DA42s. The Twin Star's attributes make it ideal for many missions, including advanced flight training, private flying and special applications as a sensor platform. With liquid cooled twin turbo-diesel engines that burn only 12 gph total in cruise, long endurance, and known ice certification, the aircraft is ideally suited to Canadian conditions."

Recently named 2006 Aircraft of the Year by Aviation Consumer magazine, the DA42 is the undisputed piston aircraft technology leader, with all carbon airframe, Garmin G1000 glass cockpit and FADEC controlled twin turbo-diesel powerplants.
