Jet flight with a set of wings and jet engines strapped to your back is not appealing to most of us but adventurer Yves Rossy, a Swiss national airline pilot was the first and is still doing it today.
His first flight was on June 24th, 2004 when Rossy dropped out of a Pilatus airplane at an altitude of 4000m. Rossy glided until he reached 2500m where he fired up the jet engines and made history. He managed horizontal flight at 1600m above the ground for more than 4 minutes, at a speed of 100 knots before he parachuted to the earth safely. Since that date Yves Rossy has made more than 30 motorized flights. Click to the following link to see this amazing aerial display. Jet Man Video |
