With ICAO’s November stamp of approval on allowing airline pilots to fly beyond age 60 the FAA will propose new rules to raise the retirement age to 65.  In a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., FAA Administrator Marion Blakey stated, “This is a change whose time has come.".

The new rule will allow one pilot in the cockpit to be over the age of 60 with a mandatory retirement age of 65. The entire process should take about two years to implement.
