General Aviation Shipments Up 12.9% in 2006 PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 17 February 2007
The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) announced that general aviation shipments had increased by 12.9% over that of 2005.  A total of 4,042 aircraft were produced and delivered in 2006.
Piston aircraft sales were up 11.6 percent even though the GAMA estimated overall flight hours were down by more than 30 percent since the early 1980's.  Pilot numbers decreased for the fourth consecutive year and the average pilot age also increased.  The average pilot in the United States is 45 years old and only 10 percent are under the age of 25.

A summary of the report is available on the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) site.
