Surprise Landing Fees – Montreal PDF Print E-mail

It will now cost you a minimum of $46.68 (plus Tax) to land at Montreal’s Trudeau and Mirabel Airports. There has been no landing fee for small aircrafts at Trudeau and Mirabel (15nm north of CYUL) so the first batch of invoices to local pilots and flying schools came as a big surprise.  Unfortunately, no one is the general aviation sector had been consulted.

Mirabel, the white elephant which cost tax payers millions of dollars and rarely see’s any airline traffic, should just be happy to keep the air traffic controllers awake and proficient at handling air traffic. Montreal-Trudeau International Airport has been a convenient step for clearing customs and is situated in an ideal location for businessmen flying for meetings.

The new landing fee may put additional cash in the coffers of the local airport authorities but watch it kill the local general aviation companies.
