What could have been a significant set back turned out to be a minor annoyance to Steve Fossett and the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer team.

The preliminary test flight Wednesday verified a wing repair made by the Scaled Composites team following a collision with a fueling truck last week wasn't as serious as initially considered. The quick repair and repositioning flight to Florida keeps Fossett’s flight window intact—from mid-January through the end of February. Exact dates will be determined by favorable weather and jet stream conditions.

“The record attempt timeline is back on track”, stated  Fossett after the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer was repaired and ready to fly down to Florida from Kansas to start “The Ultimate Flight” .
