On August 26, 2007, at an unknown time, a Cessna P206, N904DZ, registered to Blue Skies Leasing LLC, operating as a 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight, collided with the ground, in Center Hill, Florida. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed. The airplane sustained substantial damage. The commercial pilot received fatal injuries. The flight originated from the Herlong Airport in Jacksonville, Florida, on August 26, 2007 at about 0430. According to the Sumter County Sheriff's Department, at about 0420 the Jacksonville Sheriff's Department received a telephone call concerning the pilot of N904DZ. The caller was concerned about the pilot's well-being. The caller stated that the pilot had threatened suicide by crashing his airplane. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Department dispatched Officers to the Herlong Airport and observed the accident airplane departing as they arrived. The airplane wreckage was located by the Civil Air Patrol in Sumter County, Florida, about 120 miles south southwest of Herlong Airport, on August 26, 2007, at 1535. Examination of the accident site by an FAA Inspector found that the airplane had impacted the ground in a slight nose down attitude at a high rate of speed. The debris path extended about 500 feet on a magnetic heading of 145-degrees.
