After five full days of searching there is still no sign of Steve Fossett the billionaire adventurer who went missing on Monday morning. The terrain is unforgiving and is littered with plane wrecks. Already searches have discovered six uncharted plane wrecks.
Authorities have stated that Mr. Fossett did not have any emergency equipment on board and only one bottle of water for what was to be a short flight to view an area for a future project. The terrain is unforgiving - flat arid desert surrounded by 14,000 foot mountains. Searchers are not giving up hope since many have survived for up to two weeks in similar circumstances if not severely injured. Fossett, who made his fortune as a commodities trader was the first person to circle the globe solo in a balloon and has a long list (116) of speed or distance records on land, air and water. |
