On September 2, 2007, at 1511 central daylight time, a Cessna 172M, N1502V, collided with the terrain following a loss of control while maneuvering around a relatives residence in Union Star, Missouri. The student pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was destroyed by impact and post impact fire. The 14 CFR Part 91 flight was operating in visual meteorological conditions without a flight plan. The flight originated from St. Joseph, Missouri, at 1330.
