American Airlines has had to cancel more than 850 flights Wednesday - more than one-third of its schedule for wiring inspections.
It appears the airline has identified the root causes of the problems and has rectified them. The problem came to a head after several incidents of the MD-80 nose landing gear not retracting during extremely cold temperatures. |

A Quantas Boeing 747 jumbo jet was required to make to make an emergency descent on Friday while enroute from London to Melbourne. While cruising a 29,000 feet an explosive bang rocked the jumbo jet. Oxygen masks fell from the ceiling while the jet descended rapidly to a safe altitude. |
